restructuring from commercial buildings to residential.
The former CarpetRight site at Spaarndamseweg 74-78 now forms the
closing location between the De Pionier apartments and the Patrimonium neighbourhood
itself. As such, it is a pass in the development of the Spaarne bank, from
business zone to urban residential area. The building plan fills the space between the
Patrimonium neighbourhood and De Pionier and accompanies the jump in scale between the pre-war

Reason for the building plan
The municipality of Haarlem aims to build around 10,000 homes in the
period until 2025. To this end, eight areas have been designated by the municipality to

Spaarndamseweg is one of these areas. The plan is to build 650 homes here in the coming
650 homes will be built here in the coming years. The building plan Spaarndamseweg 74-78
is part of the Spaarndamseweg development zone and forms part of the Spaarndamseweg
Spaarndamseweg development vision adopted by the council.
The reason for the building plan is the initiative of Spaarndamseweg Ontwikkeling B.V. in
Haarlem for the development of the location Spaarndamseweg 74-78 in Haarlem, also
also known as the 'CarpetRight' site, for the realisation of 29 homes and
retail.
