IN HAARLEM

Haarlem is brimming with innovation and energy when it comes to sustainability. Hospitality businesses and stores have to deal daily deal with food waste, waste and packaging materials on a daily basis. To encourage cooperation, as part of the Haarlem Climate Accord, a front-runner group was established to bring these sustainable initiatives together.

Culture vultures will find plenty of museums and other cultural attractions. The most famous are the Frans Hals Museum and the Teylers Museum. The oldest cultural building dating from 1872 is the Phil Haarlem. For movie lovers, Haarlem has a modern Pathé cinema with eight large screens. At its historic location on the northern part of the Enschedé grounds, the Toneel/filmschuur is a nice alternative for more culturally inclined performances.

The Patronaat is Haarlem’s music venue and, with two venues and a music café, is one of the ten most important pop venues in the Netherlands. It is proud to present Bevrijdingspop, one of the largest pop festivals in the Netherlands, as an annual cultural event on May 5th. Haarlem Jazz and Haarlem Culinair are also two cultural events that should not be missed.

Haarlem has a lot to offer for a pleasant get-together. Take a seat on one of the sunny terraces along the Spaarne, visit the famous Jopen church, dive into one of the nice specialty beer pubs, take a seat in a wicker beach chair at the StadStrand de Oerkap or enjoy a delicious cocktail at the Wigbolt cocktail bar, voted the best bar in the city by the Haarlem public and a professional jury.

Want to see a movie in a special place? The Film Dome is located in the national monument, the Dome, within walking distance of your apartment in Spaarnse Terrassen. Around the building there is also parking space for your bicycle. The six theaters, with a total of six hundred seats, show the finest arthouse titles, the best of Hollywood and everything in between. There are also regular film festivals and (pre-)premieres with special guests.
